What is this timer?
The AlarmClock24 online timer is a countdown you start with one click. Choose any duration — from 1 minute to 90 — or use a preset. A circular progress ring shows exactly how much time is left, and when it reaches zero the timer rings with the sound you selected.
Timers are not alarms: they don't care what time it is, only how long a task should last. Use them for cooking, workouts, study sessions, breaks, or meetings. Need a countdown that repeats? Enable "Repeat when finished" and the timer restarts automatically — ideal for interval training or periodic reminders.
Pomodoro mode
The classic Pomodoro technique alternates 25 minutes of deep work with 5-minute breaks, and a longer break every 4 rounds. The timer's 25-minute preset is exactly that. Pair it with the 5-minute preset for breaks and you have the complete system — no app required.
When to use a countdown instead of an alarm
Use a timer when you think in durations ("20 minutes from now"), and an alarm when you think in clock times ("at 4:30 PM"). The timer page shows the remaining time; the alarm page shows the exact end time. Both live on AlarmClock24 and share the same reliable engine.
Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown uses absolute timestamps, so it survives background tab throttling and stays accurate to the second.
Can the timer repeat automatically?
Yes, enable "Repeat when finished" and it restarts by itself when it rings — useful for intervals and recurring reminders.
What is the Pomodoro technique?
It is a time-management method that alternates 25-minute focus blocks with 5-minute breaks, plus a longer break every 4 blocks. The short, defined effort window improves concentration.
